Weekly Classes

Weekly classes at Olive Kane Dance offer joyful, thoughtful dance training for children aged 2-teens.

Classes are calm, purposeful and progressive, with clear routines and high-quality teaching that help children feel confident and settled week to week. We balance enjoyment with learning, supporting children to build strong foundations, develop skills over time and take pride in their progress.

Our classes work particularly well for children who benefit from structure and encouragement, including those who don’t always thrive in competitive settings, or who prefer space to grow at their own pace.

Classes take place at Leyton Sports Ground, in a bright, purpose-built dance studio with barres, mirrors and wooden floor. The venue is easily accessible for local families, with free on-site parking and close to residential areas and schools.

Timetable

Below is our current timetable for weekly classes. All classes are grouped by age and stage, with progression built in over time.

Full details on fees, tiered pricing, uniforms, term dates and booking can be found on our Practical Info page.

Progression & Exams

OKD works with The Dance School Company, chosen for its modern syllabus and supportive, child-centred approach.

Exams are offered as celebrations of progress, not pressure points. Children are prepared carefully and encouraged to feel confident and proud.

Performances

We plan a full show every other year, balancing performance opportunities with time for technical development, exams and enjoyment of learning. Our show in Summer 2025, ‘From Story to Stage’ was inspired by the idea of a magical library where books become portals to a new world, exploring well-known tales and inventing new ones.

Beyond the Weekly Class

Children at OKD may also take part in:

  • Ballet Buddies, our pen pal scheme with Richmond Dance Centre in rural North Yorkshire

  • Theatre trips and cultural outings

  • Masterclasses with guest artists

  • Assisting and leadership opportunities as dancers get older

  • Watching Weeks and termly celebrations

  • “This exam helped them gain confidence in themselves… Dance is not just dance, it is discipline, focus, attitude and courage to express and present yourself — all through so much fun with amazing teachers.”
